I really cannot believe I leave on Sunday for my Alaskan Adventure! By this time Sunday I will be in the air to Chi-Town (3 hr flight); and then off to Anchorage (6 hr flight); and then to Cordova (1 hr); and then to Yakutat 1 hr flight. I will cross the National Park threshold at 1800 Pacific Time, which is 10:00 Eastern Time. Do the math people and you will find that I will be traveling for 15 hours and cross 4, 226 miles of wilderness (almost 7,000 km)!!!! HOLY COW!!!! I don't want to be sitting for the next 2 days!
So the hump I have to get over today: GET EVERYTHING TO FIT IN MY BACKPACK AND 2 CARRY ONS!!!!!!! Physics is NOT on my side at this point! I did a trial last night and it didn't go so well! I need to buy new space bags and change the clothing orientation.... maybe take some clothes out..... who knows! It has to be done TODAY! TODAY!!!!! I wish I had Mary Poppins bag! She fit everything in there --> a LAMP for crying out loud! I just want to bring the essentials; clothes, shampoo/conditioner, winter/rainy weather gear, 12 cm fixed knife, bladder, hiking boots, socks, camera/gear, books, and snacks.... is that too much to ask, Matter?
Boy oh boy! Can you imagine if Elizabeth Taylor were traveling to Alaska...? I wonder if she's ever been there! She'd carry more suitcases than the grizzly bear population in Alaska.... : )
My next post will be at some point during traveling.... tonight dinner at Hurricane with Christina, JD and B to see my Jen-Jen! Tomorrow a BBQ at the house and then crash early since I have to be out the door at 0430.... well 0415, but B doesn't know that yet..... : )
