As the departure to Alaska comes closer I am starting to spend my extra time researching the ecosystem, geology, climate and backpacking skills I will encounter.
What I am uber stoked about is the amount of research being done at the park. From land to sea there is something to take part it! Whales and bears and seals, OH MY!
CHECK IT OUT!

Willy Wonka had his candy wonderland; my wonderland will definatley be hiking in Alaska! Lichen does look like green Kool Whip; glaciers look like cream cheese frosting; the rainfall could be Jelly Belly's; the Auroras could be sour straws!! My enjoyment will be learning something new everyday... what a high! And no annoying, whining, spoiled children to deal with!
Last night's trial weighted hike went really well --> Brad sped ahead on his mountain bike and I latched on my 20 lb bag and dominated those trails at Carter! I went up to Bird Song within an hour. I am confident I will be a great part of a backpacker group..... I'm going to head out again Sunday to the trails. I'm thinking Alafia River State Park!
